Fundraising Tips

Thank you for choosing to fundraise in support of St Andrew’s Hospice.

Every penny you raise helps us continue caring for those that need it, so we will do everything we can to support you to maximise your giving!

Whether you’re climbing a mountain or running a marathon, every pound you raise will make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families.

To help you on your way to becoming a fundraising superstar, check out our top tips and advice below!

Setting a fundraising goal that your supporters can rally behind is a great way to increase your donations. Did you know that people who set a fundraising target raise up to 46% more?!

A JustGiving page is the quickest and simplest way to fundraise. Your donations you raise come straight to us and you can set up a page in just a few easy steps! Set up your page here or read our super handy guide to JustGiving to answer any questions you might have!

Using social media is a great and easy way to let people know about your fundraiser. You can reach a large audience who would be willing to donate.

Tell your supporters what you’re doing and why, keep them updated with your training progress and when you’ve completed your challenge remember to say thank you!

Don’t forget to tag us in your posts! We love to see your progress and celebrate once you’ve completed your event.

Check whether your employer offers a match funding scheme. Some companies will match fundraising completed by their employees. This is one of the easiest ways to double your funds!

Gift Aid can significantly increase the value of your sponsorship money at no extra cost to you or those who are sponsoring you.

For every £1 donated with Gift Aid, we get an extra 25p from HMRC! So, don’t forget to ask your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box when donating.

Please note: we’re unable to put Gift Aid towards your minimum sponsorship target.

After you have completed your fundraising event, make sure you celebrate how much you’ve raised, thanking everyone who has supported you.

The next step is to send us the money and please remember to return any equipment (event pots, t-shirts, banners etc.) you have borrowed from us. And most importantly, feel proud of the incredible impact you have made on St Andrew’s Hospice through all your hard work!

Here are a few ways you can return your money to us:

Online donations and JustGiving

If you would like to pay your money to us online, then please visit www.standrewshospice.com/donate and fill in the online form.

If you set up your fundraiser on JustGiving then good news, you don’t have to do anything! It’s likely you will still receive donations for a few weeks, and during this time, it is a good idea to continue sharing your page.

When you do stop receiving donations, it would be really helpful if you could deactivate your page. You can easily do this by logging into your account, clicking ‘Edit your page’, followed by ‘Settings’, and ‘Extend your page’, before inputting tomorrow’s date.

If you raised any money offline, you could return that to us in the below ways along with your sponsorship forms. We would prefer for you to bring this into the Hospice rather than paying it into your JustGiving page, as this saves us paying extra fees.

By phone

If you would like to pay the money using a credit or debit card over the phone, then give our Fundraising Team a call on 01472 571265.
